Barack Obama Disappears from Twitter.

Daisy Whitney got me started on this one in a TVWeek Post:

Here's some more detail. Barack Obama bowed out of this Twitter campaign site the afernoon after he was elected. I don't know if he ever posted an alternative. Never a good idea to abandon an audience in the middle of the program.

Even if it's not presidentially permissible...extend communications and move to a new site/blog/etc. (And no dead links please). Yes, you're busy...but have your people take it down David Axelrod.

I hope back...I strongly believe he will be back in some progressive online form (beyond YouTube speeches) around the Inauguration. Watch! Let's see.

Final 2 Twitter posts at BarackObama.

We just made history. All of this happened because you gave your time, talent and passion. All of this happened because of you. Thanks

I get your disappointment or concern. On the other hand, Twitter, Facebook, or the social site of your choice demand considerable time and dedication even for what my old friend Bob Henklein used to call "the ordinary park bear".

Twitter is central to Guy Kawasaki's business. It's hard to imagine an entrepreneur, CEO, or business big pants of any stripe being able to make Twitter a working part of their lives.

I'm for openness and transparency, and I really believe the coming 4 years will see more of it. But Barack's becoming un-twitterized shouldn't worry you.

I think it's disappointing too. He (and we know it's not him; it's a staffer) could easily be Twittering a couple times a week even on things we already know like "Welcome Hillary as secretary of state."

The transition office has an active account that was set up post-election - it's @change_gov on Twitter. But it's an auto-feed, and it's a shame they a)haven't made it human-staffed and b)haven't continued to leverage the Obama account. Alas.

He's not real. It's sad to see him get votes, and leave his voters high and dry.

Hey Arthur, I had a boss named Bob Henklein years ago at LGFE, he was an account manager and we worked together of Killington/Mt. Snow and STP. One of the greatest men I ever met and one of the smartest. Is this the same Bob you refer to?

Bob Henklein was my father. I was touched to see his name mentioned here in such glowing terms. I would be gratified if any who knew him connected with me on LinkedIn. We could discuss his contributions through that medium.
